Phantom Weapon- Part IV

~

Previously... because we all wanna know

He opened his eyes, fury bursting forth like nothing one ever saw before. Before the older man knew what was happening, Phantom had launched a barrage of attacks on him, all of them revolving around ghost rays. Faster and faster the attacks came, and soon, Plasmus was up against the other wall, trying desperately to put a shield up. Phantom wasn’t supposed to be this powerful… ever. “Daniel...”

Phantom was about to unleash a very powerful ghost ray to the stomach but stopped. He suddenly placed one knee on the ground, staring down at his hands and glancing in the direction of RAIN. Plasmius struggled to get up, and by the time he was on his feet, Phantom had already run off in the other direction. He chuckled to himself. At least if Daniel did destroy Metal Gear, then he would always have everlasting battle scars on his face to prove the real power of Vlad Plasmius.

~

And suddenly, the blow connected.

Snake thrust his fist forward, punching Liquid square in the stomach. The other man howled in pain and doubled over, giving Snake the opportunity to swing and connect his foot with Liquid’s face. He stumbled backwards, swearing avidly and trying to get his balance back. He got down on one knee for a moment and clutched his stomach before getting back up and eying Snake, who was panting like a dog.

And that was all the time that was needed.

Snake faked a fist to the stomach again and sent his other fist right into Liquid’s mouth, sending him backwards and hearing him slam into the wall. The resonating sound of flesh to steel seemed to bring some comfort to the man’s ears as he stood there, staring down at his fists. Incoherent thoughts ran through his mind as he watched the blood slowly ooze form Liquid’s body.

YAY. So Snake finally kicked Liquid’s butt and we’re all happy, right? *beat* Oh, come on, you know me. Not EVERYTHING is roses yet.

He didn’t know if he had won the battle or lost the war.

The doors opened, and Snake whirled around, fists upright again, only to see Phantom fly in and land on the floor, wounded beyond all belief. His face was burned with a strange pinkish energy. He clutched the spot and looked up at his ally, trying to smile, but none came. He looked away in shame a moment later. “It looks hideous, doesn’t it?” he mumbled under his breath.

Snake didn’t say anything. The two were in silence for many moments until the man finally walked over to the half ghost. His voice was low. “I don’t give a damn what you look like right now, Phantom. I’m just thankful you’re alive.”

The teen gave the legendary warrior a wary eye. “You’re just saying that to make me feel better, right?”

“Far from it.” The man held out a hand to his ally and helped him to his feet. “I’m saying that because it’s the truth. I thought for sure that you could have died. Plasmius is really the opponent, and I honestly thought that you didn’t stand a chance against him and his desire for revenge and that crap. But it looks as if you’ve proved me wrong.” He chuckled slightly. “I’m impressed.”

O_o Snake being genuine? Someone throw me a blanket to hide in! Alert the presses! Huggle me until I asplode! I love this man to death!

Phantom gave a sigh of exasperation. “But he damn near beat me to a freakin’ pulp. I dunno what I’m going to do now. We’ve got to get out of here and stuff. RAIN can be destroyed later.”

The other man shook his head. “We’ve got to destroy a part of it. Who knows what will happen if someone actually does discover what kind of power it has?”

The teenager stood up straighter and floated as best as he could in the air. His hands glowed with an emerald hue. “I think I finally know how to do it… and I am pretty sure I know where all your stuff is.”

Snake gave a slight grin. “Really?”

Phantom carried his body as best as he could to the top of the large Metal Gear and landed on its head. He disappeared, and a few moments later, something came flying off of the head of RAIN. Snake gave a small, approving smile. Yep, he could have been a slight pain once every so often, but boy, did he know how to make a guy smile. The sneaking suit landed at his feet, and Phantom leapt off RAIN as if it were nothing. There was no attempt at a landing, however, and the teenager landed merely inches away from the legendary warrior.

He gave a slight groan and turned away from Snake. “When are we getting out of here?”

A few moments later, he turned back, and Snake was back in full form- SOCOM, grenades, sneaking suit and all. He looked at Phantom and gave one last glance at the large hulking piece of machinery. He hesitated, his hand gently and subtly moving towards his gun. Phantom was on one knee and…

Hotness anyone? *drools stupidly* Phantom and Snake back together and ready to kick arse- I think I can die happy naoz. 8D

CLANG.

Snake turned around and gasped. Phantom had collapsed on the floor, the rings around his body splitting and revealing the body of a now-unconscious Danny Fenton. The burn mark on his face had definitely shown itself in full form. A pinkish sort of mark had now nearly covered his entire right side of his face and a slight portion of his left side. The man gritted his teeth- Plasmius must have seriously burned him in the process of battle. He ran over to the teen and picked him up, chuckling. “You’re really light, Fenton,” he told him, walking to the door.

“You’re leaving me behind?!” Liquid suddenly rasped from behind them.

Snake didn’t even respond, moving faster towards the door. The sooner they were out of here, the better.

“BROTHER!”

“SNAKE!”

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hold the fort! Liquid’s still alive and kicking? And not only that, he’s equally pissed off as Plasmius! *takes box and hides* Screw this, I don’t wanna die!

What the…? Plasmius was in there too? To hell with destroying Metal Gear right now- Snake just wanted to freakin’ get out of there alive.

A burst of adrenaline came forth, and the man suddenly ran down the hallway, carrying the unconscious Danny in his arms. Guards began crying out and shooting at the two people, not caring if they hit each other or their intended target. The message they were told before was simple- shoot anything that tries to escape. And lucky for the duo, they were doing a crap job at it. Plasmius was heard shrieking, “Kill them! Kill them both!” and Liquid was ordering the opposite.

Dead or alive- it made no difference now. Snake and Danny were not to leave the building.

And that was not in Snake’s plans.

He made a turn down a corridor and saw a straight path to another door. The hallway was heard with the clanging of feet against floor, and more guards tried to follow him down the way. Snake growled. ‘Isn’t there any end to these guards?” he thought in exasperation, punching one in the jaw as he passed him and thrusting another one into the wall with a vicious push.

There was a moan in his arms, and Snake was relieved to see Danny waking up from his unconscious slumber. He blinked and shook his head. “Um…”

“Kind of busy here,” Snake grunted tersely. “If you can walk, please speak up now.”

The teen blinked. “Y-yeah. I think…”

Yeah, NOW would be a great time to wake up and help your friend, you moron! *looks out and sees guards* Oh sh-…

Snake put the teen down on his feet, who winced and clutched his face. He looked around and pulled Danny behind a barrel, giving him a warning look and glancing out from behind the box. “Guards, maybe four of them,” he muttered to himself, taking out his SOCOM and loading a full magazine into it. “Hopefully, I can take them all out without raising the alarm.”

Danny leaned back against the crates. “You’re using a gun. That’s kind of loud, don’t you think?”

“No louder than any of those ghost weapons Gray uses,” his companion replied, glancing out again and firing. Screams erupted from the outside, and more firing was heard. Bullets whizzed past Snake, who ducked back and gritted his teeth. “Damnit. Knew this wasn’t going to be easy.”

Danny was now on the ground again, eyes closed and looking as if he was…

Shit.

Agreed. I would think that, too.

Snake picked up the teen and hoisted him over his shoulder, having felt for a pulse a few moments before. It was weak. Extremely weak. He was dying suddenly. The man gritted his teeth and looked outside once again. What the hell had just happened? Danny had went from being conscious for a few moments to suddenly getting an erratic heartbeat and brushing death. Snake shook himself out of his questionable funk and hugged the wall, watching the guards chatter like nervous schoolgirls. He had to get past these guys… all four of them. But how?

The legendary warrior set down the teenager and took another fleeting look. Now that they had dispersed… he sighed and snuck cautiously behind one of the guards, grabbing him and pulling him into a stranglehold.

Only a few seconds later, the man was down like a sack of potatoes.

Snake heard footsteps and darted back behind the box and checked Danny’s pulse. Still very weak.

Don’t tell me he’s gonna die! He dies, there’s seriously no point in doing this damn commentary anymore. I love it and all, but I’m not gonna have anything to commentate if these two don’t live!

He sighed and looked out from behind again, his blood freezing. Liquid and Plasmius were there, looking frantic. His brother had blood on the side of his face and was looking absolutely murderous. Plasmius’ hands were alight with a magenta fire, ready to destroy anything that came in his way. Snake let out an angered sigh and picked up Danny’s body once more. There had to be a better way out of this place than just waltzing through the effing front door and being maggot food. Anything at all… He looked around the facility as best as he could without being spotted and saw a spare jet board on the other side of the room.

This was way too convenient for his liking. Then again, the two most dangerous men on the face of the earth were there in the same room, so… it couldn’t be that much of an issue.

And their backs were turned. He didn’t know if this was a good thing or a bad thing. The adrenaline was starting to pump once again. He watched the two men pass again and picked up Danny’s body, hugging the wall as best as he could and making his way to the jet board. He heard Liquid and conversing amongst themselves and shuddered at the thought that they were still working together.

He finally reached the board and watched in horror as Plasmius turned around and looked in his direction. The billionaire didn’t make any motions to Liquid, merely raising his hand and smirking. Snake’s eyes flashed dangerously. He slowly reached for his SOCOM, shaking his head.

Crap, crap, crap… *noms on cookies and popcorn, too anxious to make witty remarks*

His enemy nodded. He seemed to be mouthing something. Snake squinted and tried to make out what he was saying. It looked something like “Explosions aren’t common around here, are they?”

That just looked bad by the way he was mouthing the words. Snake inched closer to the jet board. Plasmius’ hand glowed brighter.

“Plasmius! I was talking to you!” Liquid snapped.

The hybrid turned around, and Snake slid across the floor as softly as he could.

Suddenly…

Liquid turned around, his eyes widening. He seemed to start foaming at the mouth with rage. “You… you bastard!”

OH, DAMNIT. I saw it coming, I saw it coming! *points and yells at screen inside box*

Snake said nothing, not moving and giving his brother an equally hateful glare. Danny didn’t move, his pulse staying weak and steady. His bandana whipped behind him, his voice soft. “You wouldn’t shoot me in here. There’s too much of a risk for people to notice, and there is one rather large tub of nuclear waste in here. I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t like to die again.”

His brother made no response, merely closing his mouth, gripping the handle of his own gun and moving forward slightly. The siblings’ eyes interlocked, and Snake tensed up. He was willing to sacrifice himself now to make sure the Fenton teenager got out of here alive. And he had a feeling that Liquid wouldn’t shoot him yet. He wasn’t ready to die for a second time- that much, he had gathered. After all, he didn’t have FoxDie infecting his cells.

Sure, Naomi Hunter had finally found a cure to the virus, but she had told him to get Metal Gear out of the picture before injecting it into him. And he planned on making it out of there. Suddenly, he bolted towards the jet board and picked it up, rushing towards the exit some six hundred feet away and kicked on the engine. Plasmius screamed in rage, and the legendary hero willed himself to make sure he didn’t A.) die, and B.) make sure Fenton kept his pulse.

There was a blurred shout of “NO!” from Liquid, but it was too late. The bachelor hybrid had shot a magenta ghost ray at the duo, and Snake had just veered right behind the tub of waste.

In the next moment, the room was flooded with fire, screams, and many new dead bodies in Axion Labs.

To be concluded... in the final edition of this hopefully epic saga of doom.

HEY, I HERD YOU LIEK AUTOHRS' NOETS. >8D

Oh, snap. It's almost finished. I'm suddenly really tempted to burst into tears, but I won't. I hope I do the cliffhanger some justice in the final segment, and I hope you have enjoyed this new part to one of my better... excerpts. At least, I thought it was better. That's up to you guys to decide.
